scraps 18.0a and 18.0b

these were the first larger (for me) unpainted scrap pieces i made.  i’m not sure why, but i made them at the same time.  i had previously made the purple cube for our front porch (and a green version of the cube for our friend dan), but i really wanted to let the various types of materials speak for themselves.  there’s a little bit of everything in here, from pressure treated lumber to a little chunk of some really dense exotic wood my dad must have given me.  little off-cuts from the picture frames i’d made the summer before.  various dowels, cherry, and rough sawn edges of lumber from inside the bowels of our house.  the last photo shows some of my material storage techniques.
