you had one chance and you screwed the pooch
my friend conan is one of my all-time favorite collaborators and also one of my oldest and closest friends. we live in different states, so we don’t get to hang out as much as we’d like. but when we do, we try to take advantage and make some things. at the end of 2024, he visited us in maine and we got down to business on some projects. you had one chance and you screwed the pooch is the result of one full day’s iteration and assembly efforts. i’ve included a couple of photos of earlier process shots (where we hadn’t yet found a rhythm). as the piece came into focus, we liked the city feel that it had (and debated which direction it should be hung — with the “streets” running north/south or east/west). avenues, buildings, parks, sculptures — it’s all here. yhocaystp was constructed almost entirely out of scraps from one of the bins in the wood shop. i can’t wait for next time.
